30 Day Video Game Challenge
Day 3 - A Game that is Underrated
EASY.

This game was the BOMB. It was a sidescrolling racing game (ala Excite Bike) but it was TEN TIMES BETTER. Basically you go through the track racing against one other unicycle doing stunts and tricks in the air and such to gain speed boosts. The more tricks you do, the faster you’d go and the faster you’d go the harder it was to pull off tricks. It balanced really well and caused you to really think about when tricking was appropriate.
If you just tried to spam as many tricks as you could, you’d end up falling on your seat or going the wrong direction. You could go ridiculously fast in this game too, to the point that I questioned whether or not Sonic could outrun a Unicycle as a kid.
The way you pulled off tricks was pretty unique too (for its time). Left or right would be your acceleration (the tracks constantly switched directions to screw with you), you had a jump button that was more of a hop, and there were plenty of ramps for big air. Once in the air you could perform tricks through a combination of flips and twists and landing said tricks was very gratifying.
The best part about this game, though, was the split-screen multiplayer. My brother and I would spend hours playing this game competitively. It was just so much fun. This has to be my favourite racing game ever and it’s incredibly underrated. I think a sequel on the Vita or 3DS would do this franchise wonders (the gameplay would translate fairly easily and tricks could be pull off by drawing circles and such with the stylus).
So if you haven’t played it, check out Uniracers for the SNES, you won’t regret it. Just make sure you use a real controller if you download the ROM. :3

A lot of you guys have asked where you can go to find all of the submissions, so Kelli and I made a few resources. Here are youtube playlists with all of the submissions:
PLEASE NOTE: These have not yet been screened by us- view them at your own discretion. Also, we don’t know if all of these meet all of our requirements yet. This is just the raw list of submissions, but I trust that most of them are solid!

**UPDATED** Video cannot contain copyrighted music. Only music you create, own the rights to, or that is public domain and royalty free is permissible. Just because you own a band’s CD does not give you the “rights” to use it in your own production.
Failure to follow these guidelines will result in elimination from the contest.
FAQs:
Q: How will the films be judged?
A: On overall quality. Writing, acting, plot, etc.
Q: I don’t have a nice camera. And all I’ve got is Windows Movie Maker/iMovie. Can I still compete?
A: Absolutely! If you have a good script, we don’t care how poor the video quality is. Just do the best with what you have- we want EVERYONE to compete!
Q: Does my film have to be ABOUT the phrase and object I choose?
A: Not at all. As long as the phrase is spoken at some point in the film, and the object is in the camera’s view at some point in the film, you are good!
Q: What kind of music is permissible for inclusion in my film?
A: Either music you created, own the rights to, or public domain, royalty-free music. There are a ton of websites that offer this kind of music for download, completely free. Just because you own a band’s CD does not give you the “rights” to use it in your own production.
(Come back to this page often- it’ll be updated with more FAQs regularly leading up to the event!)
